Elsewhere Museum, 2020-2021
For most of the year that I spent living and working at Elsewhere, the museum was closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We took this opportunity to take on physical and curatorial renovations of the museum which required quite a bit of rearranging, something that this special place lends itself very well to. A new front desk and gift shop area were built out almost entirely from repurposed wood and collection materials. Shelves were organized and reinstalled to highlight the museum's history while also showcasing rooms located on the second and third floors which the public doesn't have access to. Artist projects, archives, and the invitation to contribute to the living museum were made more accessible through the use of QR codes and the creation of a museum map. Resident rooms were rearranged to better accommodate those who were living there. Furniture was reupholstered, living rooms were created and relocated, and the so call pile on the third floor was organized for not the first or last time.
