This is a traveling installation that Home Office took to various events, schools, and libraries in 2019. This large scale habitat is inspired by the star nosed mole and is a translation of our collective imagination revolving around ideas such as a home, a cave, and a garden. Because little is known about the social behaviors of the star nosed mole, the Mole Hole creates space for people of all ages to fill in the blanks. This is a traveling installation which was intentionally built so that it can be easily assembled, disassembled, and transported in the back of a car. Materials include: PVC pipe, PVC chicken netting, felt, fabric, yarn, thread, poly-fil stuffing, zipties, astroturf, upholstery foam, and cardboard.
